hi there,

i've got free time on my hand, and my 320x240 LCD+touch panel is working, so i'm going back to this project

all i wanted a first was an ECG, but just for fun, why not to also measure SPO

before to start, i want a way to be sure that my device is working proprely, to do so, i've found "commercial SPO-metter" around 40 bucks on Ebay

"approuved by FDA, CE and everything"

do you think that they really works? or CE is for "china export" rather than "commission europeene"

here :

one

two

thanks

ps : did you understand everything i said^^?

Finally I could read a Nellcor DS-100a probe. At this moment, I can obtain the pulse reading and actually I´m working in the algorithm to obtain SpO2 values. Has someone a valid oxymetry algorithm?

This is a video of the heartbeat test(only reading the Led Values), the "bip" sounds are corresponds to a second pulse oximeter used to determine if the Nellcor reading is correct:

We are near to design a complete pulse oximeter!

Hi there, I'm also working on pulse oximeter project by using Nellcor DS-A100 sensor, but im getting stuck when reading the signal from the phototransistor. I connect pin 5 (anode of phototransistor) of the sensor to Vdd with a 10K pull-up resistor, but I only read 0.47V at that pin. Could you pls give me a hint for that. Thanks

There's a useful app note for TI's MSP430 that might be helpful to people interested in this topic.
http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slaa274a/slaa274a.pdf

Looking at ebay for nellcor sensors, there seem to be both 9-pin and 7-pin versions available. The 7-pin versions are still 9-pin D connectors (with 2 pins missing) but at least some of the vendors say they aren't compatible.

Anyone know if there's a difference ? Or maybe they're just a physical keying to stop people plugging an oxygen sensor into a serial port.
